Your Weekly Boost: Living Life in Full Bloom #17 🌸
Trust Your Mind - It's Stronger Than You Think
Never Underestimate the Power of Your Mind
Happy Monday!
Are you ready for Your Weekly Boost? It’s been another long weekend here in Australia day as the Nation paused for ANZAC day to remember those who have served our country in War. ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corp and originally ANZAC day remembered those brave soldiers who faced the enemy at Gallipoli in WWI with many lives lost.
These days ANZAC encompasses all who have served and continue to serve in the armed forces. My own Dad served in WWII based in Papua New Guinea and my husband was called up for National Service back in the late 60s and served in Vietnam during the Vietnam war.
It is a day not to glorify war but to remember those who have sacrificed to allow us to have the freedoms we enjoy living in Australia.
Now to this week’s topic is one that came to me on Saturday during a run. This week the topic is how our minds are more powerful than we often give them credit for. I'm sharing a personal story about how listening to the right voice inside — the one that believes in you — can motivate you to stop procrastinating and just do it!
In last week’s Boost I wrote about feeling out of sorts lately because I had overextended myself. I was in one of those moods where energy feels flat and motivation was almost zero. I was reminded recently, in the best way, how powerful our minds (and our bodies!) truly are when we give ourselves the tiniest push.
It was Saturday afternoon. I had just finished decorating my grandson’s birthday cake (yes April is a busy month for birthdays) — a joyful and precious task, but by the end of it, I was ready to lay down, read a book and call it a day. Moving, let alone exercising, was the last thing I felt like doing.
I had missed my regular Saturday morning run with my friend and knew I needed to get some training in for our upcoming Half Marathon in June. I didn’t feel like it but a little voice inside me whispered: "Just put your shoes on and see what happens."
So I picked myself up, dusted myself off, and headed out for what I intended to be a short, gentle run.
And as often happens….
One kilometre turned into two. Two turned into five. Before I knew it, I had run 13 kilometres! I certainly did a high five to myself when I finished.
I mentioned that I'm currently training for a half marathon in June. Some days, training feels easy and exciting. Other days, it feels almost impossible to get started.
But here’s what I’m learning all over again:
Moving your body can be one of the quickest ways to lift yourself out of a ho-hum mood.
The simple act of moving — whether it’s a walk, a jog, stretching, or dancing around the living room — wakes something up inside. It shifts the energy, clears the mind, and reminds us we are alive, capable, and strong.
Once I pushed through that initial resistance, the fresh air on my face, the steady beat of my feet on the ground, and the feeling of forward motion energised me.
I came home not just feeling good, but feeling renewed.
It reminded me: our minds are incredibly powerful — and sometimes they need us to lovingly challenge them.
When we listen to the part of ourselves that believes in possibility, we create space for something wonderful to happen.
We create space to bloom.
🧘♀️A Moment to Reflect:
When was the last time you surprised yourself by pushing through a low-energy moment?
Take a moment to celebrate it — no achievement is too small when it comes to showing up for yourself.
🌈This Week’s Tiny Tip:
Try the 5-minute rule:
If you feel stuck, tell yourself you'll just do five minutes. More often than not, those five minutes will lead to more — or at the very least, you'll know you showed up.
🌈One Action for the Week:
When you feel like saying "I can't be bothered," take one small step anyway — even if it's just putting on your shoes or stepping outside.
Small steps create big momentum.
🧘♀️Mantra for the Week:
"My mind is strong, and my body is capable. I choose to keep moving forward."
A Gentle Challenge:
This week, let's challenge ourselves to bloom even on the days when we feel our bloom is wilting.
Trust your mind. Trust your body. Trust the tiny voice that knows you are capable of more than you think.
Here’s to living life in full bloom — today, tomorrow, and always. 🌸
Bloom brightly, live boldly. 🌷
