In this week’s Sparks of Joy I’m reflecting on my Podcast. I’m sharing how it brings me joy and enriches my life. I’d love you to share in the comments what brought you joy this week or the one thing that brings joy and fulfillment to your life.
When I first launched the Women Living Well After 50 podcast, back on 1st August, 2020, I had no idea how deeply it would enrich my own life. What began as a platform to share stories, tips, and inspiration for women over 50 has become one of the greatest sources of joy, connection, and personal growth for me.
I need to mention my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all of my listeners and I hope that in some way my podcast has helped you to live well and enjoy life.
During an interview last week, the thought sprang to mind 'I love doing this, it fulfils me' and there it was. After 177 episodes I'm still enjoying meeting women and sharing their stories. There have been time when I thought of finishing and indeed have taken breaks in between 'Seasons' but right now, I know I will keep going.
How does my Podcast Women Living Well After 50 bring me Joy and fulfillment?
Real Conversations, Real Women
Each time I sit down with a guest, I'm reminded of the extraordinary power of women’s stories. These aren’t celebrities or influencers. They’re women just like you and me—navigating life after 50 with courage, curiosity, and heart. They've launched businesses, overcome health challenges, rediscovered passions, embraced change, and dared to dream again.
Every interview is a reminder that midlife and beyond is not a time to slow down or fade into the background—it's a time to bloom.
Joy in Connection
There is something profoundly joyful about connection. When I press "record," it feels like I’m inviting a friend over for a cup of tea and a good chat. We laugh, we sometimes cry, and we always learn from each other. I walk away from each episode feeling inspired, energized, and grateful—often with new ideas and perspectives that challenge me to live more fully.
Learning from Every Guest
The beauty of this podcast is that I am constantly learning. Whether it’s discovering a new wellness practice, hearing how someone navigated a life transition, or picking up a practical tip for daily living, I walk away with nuggets of wisdom that I then apply to my own life. It’s like having a mentor in every episode.
A Sense of Purpose
The podcast gives me purpose. Knowing that these conversations are reaching other women—reminding them they’re not alone, sparking a new idea, or encouraging them to take that first step toward something they’ve always wanted—fills me with deep satisfaction. It reinforces my mission to help women over 50 live well, feel strong, and embrace life on their own terms.
An Invitation to You
If you haven’t tuned in yet, I invite you to listen. And if you’re a woman over 50 with a story to share—big or small—I would love to hear from you. Whether you’ve reinvented your life, taken on a new challenge, overcome a setback, or simply want to inspire others by living authentically, your story matters.
If you would like to be a guest on the podcast, or know someone who would be a wonderful fit, please reach out to me by email at sue@womenlivingwellafter50.com.au. I’m always looking for new voices to amplify and celebrate.
Because the more we share, the more we grow. And for me, that is the true joy of podcasting.
I look forward to hearing and sharing your story.
The Joy of Podcasting with Friends - The Simply Stunning Classic Book Club Podcast
In my recent post, #WOYBS? – June 2025 – Our first episode of the Simply Stunning Classic Book Club podcast is LIVE, I wrote how our online book club achieved something we've been dreaming about for some time. We started a Podcast, recording our Online Book Club discussions and have been thrilled with the response to our first episode. It is an exciting new project to share with three of my dearest friends from the blogging world - Joanne Tracey (author) who is also in the role of editing the recording, Debbie Harris from Deb's World and Donna Connolly from Retirement Reflections If you missed it, you can listen to it HERE and subscribe so you don't miss any episode.
I'm linking up to Wednesday Words and Whimsy hosted by Min from Write of the Middle. Be sure to pop over to her blog and say hello to her.
How lovely it is to read about the joy the podcast is bringing...many congratulations Sue on your initiative and tenacity. And sharing as you do, how life is going for you...by hoping to inspire others.

Hi Sue, it's so wonderful that you're still getting joy from doing your Podcast! Whilst I haven't listened to every episode, I have listened to some and you are very good at it which doesn't surprise me at all. I've just realised this post is on SubStack. Have you moved your blog over to SubStack now? I need to catch up on things! Things have been rather testing for me lately but I always manage to find pockets of joy here and there. My cats make me happy and knowing they're happy and watching them play together gives me sparks of joy. Also being all snug under the doona in bed at night on a cold and windy evening sparks joy! Thanks so much for hosting #WWWhimsy with Deb the last two weeks and thank you for linking up today! xo
