Your Weekly Boost: Living Life in Full Bloom #14 🌸
Cultivating Harmony for a Life in Full Bloom
Happy Monday!
Are you ready for Your Weekly Boost? On the first Monday of each month, I join four other bloggers to write about #WellnessReimagined and co-host a link up for others to share.
Last month I wrote about Recharge & Thrive: The 7 Types of Rest Every Woman Needs, which included Creative Rest and Sensory Rest and these two were a surprise to some of my readers. This month I want to explore the difference between Balance and Harmony and why we could benefit from shifting our mindset.
I was interviewing a guest for an upcoming episode of the Women Living Well After 50 Podcast and the topic of finding Balance was raised. I think I said something like ‘I need to work on finding more balance in my life’. My guest, suggested that perhaps Balance wasn’t what I needed but rather, ‘Harmony’. We agreed that ‘Balance’ has become a bit of a buzz word, but when I researched I discovered it really is a fallacy and something that is almost impossible to maintain.
In 2016 I wanted to find more BALANCE in my life and selected Balance as my WOTY. It was interesting revisiting this post and comparing it to how I view Balance now.
This comment from my guest, started me thinking and it certainly made sense when I reflected on our conversation and did some research.
What if we replaced the word ‘Balance’ with ‘Harmony’?
Wellness Reimagined: Cultivating Harmony for a Life in Full Bloom
We’ve long been told to seek balance—to juggle work, relationships, health, and self-care with equal measure. But balance implies a rigid act, a constant struggle to give everything an equal share. There is the perception that if we don’t have ‘Balance’ in our life we are failing in some way. Instead, what if we embraced harmony in a way of thinking that will help us to continue to bloom?
As my WOTY is Bloom I’ve tried to tie this in with my thoughts on how we can find harmony in the garden of our life.
From Balance to Harmony: Nurturing Your Growth
Balance suggests that every part of life must receive equal attention at all times.
But just like flowers bloom in their own season, different aspects of our lives take priority at different moments. Life is never in balance no matter how hard we strive.
Harmony allows us to nurture what needs care, trusting that other areas will flourish in their time.
It doesn’t mean slowing down completely and just moving through life without purpose. It means that at certain times somethings will require more of your attention than other areas in your life.
Blooming in Harmony with Wellness
Movement with Flow: Just as plants need a mix of sunlight and shade, our bodies thrive on variety—some days call for energy, others for rest. Listen to your body’s rhythm. Workout a movement plan that will incorporate all the areas we need to stay healthy and fit – strength, cardio, balance, mobility and flexibility. Above all listen to what your body is telling you and don’t try to compete with what others are doing. Eating with Ease: Instead of following rigid diet rules, focus on making intentional food choices that support both health and enjoyment. Harmony in eating means choosing nutrient-rich foods that fuel your body while also allowing space for pleasure and flexibility—like a thriving garden with diverse, nourishing plants. You might like to listen to or watch two recent podcast episodes, “Food Reset: Why I Quit Ultra-Processed Foods for a Healthier Life” with Donna Connolly and Why Smart Women Don’t Diet with Ginny Trierweiler.
Self-Care with Intention: Flowers don’t force themselves to bloom; they grow with patience and care. Prioritize self-care in ways that feel natural—whether that’s mindfulness, relaxation, or meaningful connection. Take time to work out what self-care means to you.
Living A Harmonious Life in Full Bloom
Let go of the pressure to do it all at once—trust in the natural flow of your life.
Nurture what needs your focus, knowing that other areas will blossom in time.
Shift from rigid routines to rhythms that support your well-being.
By moving beyond balance and embracing harmony, we allow ourselves to bloom—growing with grace, thriving in our own time, and living with joy, fulfillment, and ease. We create a life that flows naturally—one that is fulfilling, flexible, and aligned with our true well-being. We free ourselves from the pressure of “getting it all right” and instead create a life that flows naturally
Doesn’t that feel freeing? By embracing harmony, we give ourselves permission to grow, thrive, and enjoy life with more ease and joy on our terms and for our own individual needs.
Instead of striving to do it all, let’s focus on living well, in tune with ourselves.
🌈One Action You Can Take This Week:
Action for the Week: This week, take a moment to reflect: Where in your life are you forcing balance instead of allowing harmony?
Choose one area—whether it’s movement, eating, or self-care—and make a small shift toward flow. Maybe it’s swapping a workout for a stretch, enjoying a meal without guilt, or simply resting when needed.
🌸 Blooming Affirmation for the Week
Here's a simple yet powerful mantra to accompany you each day:
✨ "I let go of perfect balance and embrace peaceful harmony." ✨

The Retirement Phase - Thriving After 70 Staying Fit, Active and Loving Life
In this episode, my guest is Jennifer Jones from The Retirement Phase. I first met Jennifer about 9 years ago. We were both Australian bloggers and have maintained a blogging friendship since then.
A fun fact - we have never met in person and I had never heard Jen’s voice until this episode!
I’ve long been inspired by Jennifer and her commitment to her health and wellbeing and now at 70 she is still going strong. She is a powerhouse but equally a beautiful soul and I enjoyed chatting with her.
Jen is also a co-host for our monthly Wellness Reimagined Link Up. A place for us to write about our own health and wellness ideas as well as sharing our goals to help us stay accountable.
